Process

We are architects, and we love building things.

Being based in India, we draw deeply from our indigenous knowledge, traditional building techniques, artisanal practices, and local ways of making.

Our way of working is rooted in learning from historical contexts, marrying that understanding with a celebration of materials, fusing it with modern technology, and expressing it in built form.

Process

We believe that contemporary architecture is always enriched when it investigates and builds upon the long history of human construction that came before it.

There is much to learn from buildings that have evolved over thousands of years to nurture human well-being—not by replicating historic styles, but by creatively rooting modern contexts and technologies within traditional principles of craftsmanship, atmosphere, and a close relationship with nature.

Materiality is at the heart of our work.

Whether stone, brick, wood, or experimental composites, we see materials not just as building blocks but as storytellers that shape the atmosphere of a space. Our process engages with materials holistically - through the design of spaces and details, their tactility, their play with light and shadow, their thermal qualities, their histories, and their local contexts. Every design discussion begins with materials and the craft that brings them to life.

Our design process is always collaborative.

It grows through conversations and shared making with artisans, artists, colleagues, and consultants from parallel fields - a way of working that allows every project to become more layered, grounded, and alive.

Over the years, we have built close relationships with organisations such as Dustudio, Hunnarshaala, and AINA. With them, we continue to learn, share, and undertake projects across the country.
